When we pray, God listens!
Prayer is an art of communication to God to offer praise, thanksgiving, confession, and request or express what is on your heart. God already knows what is on our hearts, but we are still encouraged to pray. If you are someone whose life has gone pretty well, you will not understand some of the prayer topics I will raise here. You are looking at someone who has struggled for several years in his life.
One of the things that I have learned throughout the years is that you need certain prayers to tackle specific issues. There are times that you need to be aggressive and claim what belongs to you. We are in a spiritual fight because life is spiritual. If you act all nice, Satan will not run away from you. The devil fears a Christian who knows his right, has the proper foundation and knows the Word of God. If you don’t understand the dynamics of prayer, trust me, you will pray for years and still not move forward in life.
So many people think life is going to school, having a promising career, having a well-paid job, marrying, having kids, buying mortgages, and chilling. Life is more complex than you read in the news. Life is a fight, and this Prayer Blog is not for those who have everything moving on smoothly. It is for those of us who have been stuck in situations for several years without a solution. It is for those who have been married for years without the fruit of the womb, those who are struggling in their marriages, finance, business, attacks, strange dreams, accidents, stubborn problems and complex situations.
I also need to explain a few things. Prayer works with action. For example, if you are hungry, you must cook before you can eat. We pray when there is no money to buy ingredients. We do not spend hours begging for food when we can cook ourselves. God always works with us. Therefore, you must do your bits. Many Christians pray for so long but stay at home, praying for financial breakthroughs and never actually taking a step of faith to do anything. Recently, there was a fire near a church in Nigeria and instead of the people calling the fire brigade or organising water to try and quench it, they were just there praying over the fire. That is NOT the kind of prayer I teach. Prayer must not take stupidity. Do not pray for things that you can do. You should not pray for God to wash your plates. That prayer is a waste of your time. Do you know there are wasteful prayers? A careless prayer is the one you do to appear pious. A wasteful prayer is a prayer that seeks to wipe away common sense. Prayer for God to clean your house, prayer for grooming, prayer for painting, etc., are foolish because they are a complete waste.
Some pastors will tell you that no prayer is a waste, but I am telling you there are inefficient prayers out there. But the Bible says we should pray without ceasing? (1 Thess 5:17). Yes, it does. Does that mean you shouldn’t sleep because of that? Why not stay away for one month without sleeping or eating? You will die a stupid dead because that is NOT what it means to pray without ceasing. You can communicate with God often by tuning in your heart to Him. Pray without ceasing is not mumbling words to appear all spiritual.
